what tire to use

Ok I'm going to the double dark side. just want to know which tire to use.  I've seen 2 numbers tossed around the BT45 & the G709 what is the difference  

I'm on my second or third BT and love the life longevity and ride of it.

The G709 is the OEM Front tire and a very good choice by all accounts.
The BT45 is a MC rear tire that a lot of people use. But read further, if you push hard, it does not last as long.

thanks guys.... I installed a BT 45, love the ride, corners a little different.  the only thing I noticed is the clearance (center of tire & the fender/mounting brackets.  that being said after 70 MPH I can smell smoking rubber, I think the ballooning of the tire it is touching the upper fender mounting bracket. however I don't see any heavy scuffing.. I'll just keep a close eye on the tire for any cutting  

Did you instal a 130/70-18? That size should not cause any rubbing.

no it is a 120/90V 18 every thing is close but there is clearance

The bad news is DON'T USE 120/90 18  there was room for the tire in the fender at low speeds (for a wile). The fender didn't scuff the tire BUT the tire eat/melted the fender,  the heat made the fender sag even lower into the tire..      So does anyone have a front and rear fender half ?  Looks like I'll be looking for a 139/70 18 as well..  I hope that the smaller tire rides as good as the 120/90.. just thought I'd share my screw up, in the hopes that anyone else who goes to the double dark side doesn't follow my miss-steps.      wanted to thank this forum I'm glad I found it.. Are there any of you that live in or around me here in Evansville In.  I' 63 so I don't push hard but like to bring up the tail of a short ride sometime. (well it might be a wile) with this and the starter problem I having I may just put it away and save my $$$$$ to get that fixed and a new tire and fender halves. Thanks guys

Have 2005 Rune 205/50/17 General G-Max on the rear, Saturday took off an Avon 160/60/18 (rear tire) from the front didn't last 2 years. Was going to put a bt45 on and at the minute put a 160/60/18 bt023 on the front, love it, hope I get the mileage some other people have gotten out of them.
