205/60 16 ct
does the 205/60 16 size ct hit the swing arm on the gl1800 like the 195/65 16 does....currently running a 195/55 16 but would like a taller tire to give more ground clearance & fix speedo....i'll never go back to a mc tire on the rear of my wing!!

A 205 is wider than a 195. Wing riders should chime in and say what they are using pretty soon.

The several people I know that have car tires on their Wings are all using 195 width tires.

I see this old post that a 195/60 will not hit the swing arm..the question was will a 205/60 hit. That is what I am looking at also. This tire almost makes the speedo perfect. At 65 the actual is 64.41mph. Pretty darn close.

Re: 205/60 16 ct
Well I borrowed a used 205/60/16 from a local tire shop and just installed it on my 02 Wing. These are my results. To get the tire up in the fender weld the tire needs to be deflated completely, otherwise, it ain't goin. Once I got the tire installed with just alittle persuasion and aired up to 38 psi, I got under the bike to check things out and gave the wheel a spin. On the left side of the bike the tire rubs the inner plastic fender weld. Behind this is a wire harness that is around the battery. It is so close that the lettering on the tire is what rubs, not the whole tire........now this is while the bike is on the center stand. I rode the bike at a slow speed with the radio off and immediately hear a rubbing sound from the back end. From what I could tell.....its dark now, the tire is not rubbing in any other area. The 205 size tire is just shy of being 1 inch wider than the 180/70/16 that I normally run. The 195 would be better width wise but needs to be a 65 to keep the speedometer true. I'm thinking there is plenty of room overhead so there should not be a issue there. Also note that my bike has the adjustable rear height suspension of which I run at max height or adjustment number 25 for maximum clearance. Think I will do some more research, but still want to go to the darkside. If anyone knows of a company that makes a 195/65/16 that is not a 8 ply tire and used or old at the warehouse, please let me know. Thanks.

I'd sooner have the speedo a bit out of wack than have a tire rubbing anywhere. The speedo's are out of wack right from the facyory anyway.I just check the gps if I want a more accurate reading.JMHO.
